THE closure of a key road in and out of Newton Abbot could last until the autumn.
The section of Wolborough Street between the Linden Terrace junction and the Pomeroy Road junction will close on June 17.
This is to allow the main gas pipe to be replaced.
Initially, it was anticipated that the work would be finished on July 7, but Devon County Council’s (DCC) interactive roadworks map now shows the estimated finish date to be September 6.
The work, which is being carried out be Wales and West Utilities, could be completed before September 6, however.
A sign-posted diversion will be put in place by DCC.
