EIGHTEEN bags of litter, each weighing 15 kilos, was collected during a ‘spring clean’ in Teignmouth.

Organisers have thanked the many residents who joined in the event.

Volunteers, traders and local councillors joined forces for the Big Teignmouth Spring Clean to tackle litter and dirt in the Triangle.

One of the organisers, Cllr David Cox said: ‘The strength of community spirit was very much on display.

‘I hope we can work with as many community-minded people as possible to get Teignmouth looking clean and welcoming.’

Fellow organiser Cllr Dan Comer said: ‘It is challenging with reduced resources to local authorities, so many improvements will only be made by the community taking action and thinking and working collaboratively.’

Cllr Penny Lloyd added: ‘We hope to have more clean ups and gardening events in parks and green spaces by community groups taking pride in keeping Teignmouth clean, doing as much as we can to ensure our community can thrive.’
